These pictures are from possibly the only time we have had an Autograss meeting on proper snow. It was at Stroud's Moreton Valence venue on New Years Day 1979 and there were cars present from as far afield as Teifi and Pennine clubs

Here are some pictures of an end of season bash for Autograss cars at Mendip Raceway near Bristol in 1978
P14 Wimpy Walker in his class6a 100E with a highly modified Ford pushrod engine which resided in the passenger seat space. This gave great weight distribution and made for lots of sideways action. Unfortunately this was the last outing for Wimpy's very successful car as it succumbed to the unforgiving Mendip crash barrier...
S5D Tony Lovell - known as Mr Sheen due to his immaculate car presentation. This chassis was still being used by the Phipps family for many years afterwards

John Lloyd from Wrexham in a V6 Special
In the 70's Class 5 was for over 1201cc pre 1964 cars which meant there were loads of Jags and Cortinas racing. It was a bit hectic as you can see from these pictures featuring NS167 Mike Jones and S1Y John Briggs who went on to be a NASA Director.
In the mid seventies this car/driver combination was the one to beat in class 6a (the forerunner to class 7). With it's highly tuned 1700 pushrod engine sat in the passenger seat space using a shortened propshaft it had perfect balance and driver Wimpy Walker from Penhow certainly could pedal it quickly.
