Retrograsser Profile

What's it all about?
Retrograsser is the home of Autograss nostolgia. Based on an idea by Keith Fraser it aims to feature the many old photos taken by him in the 70's and son Ian Fraser in the 80's & 90's, and allow anybody involved in grassing to send in their photos for the 'Reader's Pictures' page. The site aims to give long time followers of the sport a bit of nostolgia, and newcomers a chance to see how the sport evolved.

Keith Fraser

Keith Fraser first became involved with Autograss in 1970 when he was part of a group of Stock Car racers from Mendip Raceway who had heard of 'Jalopy Racing' in an issue of Cars and Car Conversions. Keith and several others formed the Bristol South Motor Racing Club and began racing with the first of several Ford Pops. Keith was a keen racer throughout the 70's and won several club and league titles as well as representing WASA at the Nationals. Keith was also involved in the organisational side and was a club and league Chairman as well as being on the national committee that formed NASA. In later years Keith could often be found commentating at meetings all over the country including the Nationals, as well as having the occasional go in son Ian's Mini's.
Ian Fraser

Although an attendee at Autograss meetings from 1 year old Ian Fraser started racing in the Junior class in 1984 where he was club champion and a league championship trophy winner 2 years running. Around this time Ian began writing and taking pictures for National Grass Racer, from which collection most of the shots on this site originate.
A succession of modified class 4&6 Minis & Metros followed with the most successful being the 1995 970S Mini pickup which Ian got a 5th at the Nationals with. In 1997 Ian turned to circuit racing in the very competitive Mini Se7en Championship.
