More excellent shots from the lens of Gareth Jones best known for his work with NASA scrutineering over several decades. Some very interesting pictures of quite a few of the iconic Autograss cars of the 70's and 80's
This picture has been sent in by Allan Thomas who raced a class1 mini in the late 80's and early 90's and came 3rd in the Nationals in 1991 on the Isle of Wight. ( Allan is looking for a video of the class1 final if anyone has one?).
The picture is from 1992 and is of Allan's class 4 on the Saturday of the West Wales Open having just passed Gordon Harries. Allan went on to win and narrowly beat Matthew Hayman on the Sunday to win class 4 overall.
Here are some more pictures for Radford domiciled Isle of Wight racer Lee Zammit. Lee now races a Pinto Starlet in Class 3 with the Radford Club and has kindly given us access to his hundreds of photos from his 20 odd years of racing, of which this is a small selection.
These first few shots are of some of Lee's many grassers starting with a Class 7 Fiesta battling with IW88 Quentin Barnes and IW112 Ashley Wheeler.

Mick Salter's rolled Mini Estate
A couple of early shots of Colin Attril's various Mini's. Colin ran a 4 and a 5 before deciding to concentrate on the smaller class to great effect
Here are a few pictures from the collection of Granville Cottle who used to race with the Penhow club in the mid 80's. Granville is now a well known face in Welsh Rallying.
Granville Cottle Snr who has now sadly
passed away was one of the pioneers of Jalopy racing in the mid sixties with the Goytre, Western Valley and Penhow clubs.
Thanks to Adrian Ward for sending these mid 80's picture from his days in the Barnsley Autograss club where he raced as number 25. Adrian is now back with White Rose after a long lay off and is interested to see any other pictures from the era.

Another picture kindly sent in by Glyn Law showing the result of when his dad Ian Law lent his class 6 to a class 1 driver John Depledge...
Sent in by the Fairhurst family from Manchester this is a clipping from the Stretford Urmston Messenger from April 30th 1982. The driver featured was a very good family friend Charles (Chas) Ashworth who sadly passed away in 2003. Chas was responsible for giving the Fairhursts the Autograss bug. Chas' car LM88 was a Mark 2 Ford Cortina Class 3, classic racing at its very best!!
These pictures have been sent in by Trevor Upton who raced from the mid 80’s at the Antrobus Racing Club with a car that he bought second-hand.
Trevor raced the car for about 2 years before destroying it on the back straight at North Wales' track.
Such was the damage to the special from then on Trevor decided to build his own cars...
Trevor raced some very successful class 10 machines racing up to the late 90’s. Now in retirement from racing Trevor is hoping that one day he might just build another to remind himself of how much fun you can have even with your clothes on.
Thanks to Simon Hall (ex SWM 888 / STAR888 now CM888) who has sent in these pictures from the late 70's / early 80's when he lived and raced up in Shropshire.
This picture of Simon's Opal Kadett was taken at Woodseaves near Market Drayton in about 1979/80 at the Shropshire and West Midlands Banger Racing track (SWMBR). The car was fitted with the running gear from a straight six Vauxhall (Cresta ?) and was left hand drive !!
The Class 5 Fiesta then became a Class 7 when fitted with a Lancia Beta 2000 transversely mounted in the rear.
Both Fiesta pictures were taken at a track near Telford (pre STAR days)1980/81ish when the name of the club became Shropshire and West Midlands Banger and Autograss Racing (SWMBAR) the shortend SWM being used as the prefix on the cars.
This Class 5 fiesta was powered with the engine and box from a Lancia Fulvia 1300 V4.
Thanks to Luke Savage for sending in these pictures of his dad Peter Savage LUD 31.
Peter raced in Class 3 mk 2 Escort in the West Midland League during the 1990's.
The rollover occurred at the old Stoke Lacey Hereford track.
Sent in by Jason Clarke these are some pictures of himself and his dad Les.
Les was a prominent racer in the 70's and 80's with Bredon Hill and Evesham clubs . Jason was a successful Junior racer in the early 80's.
